1. If you’re self employed the standard amount of Maternity Allowance you can get is £151.97 a week
2. You must have paid Class 2 National Insurance contributions for at least 13 of the 66 weeks before your baby’s due
3. If you want to work you can’t get any maternity allowance
4. If you earn / your partner earns over 100,000 you won’t get child tax credits
5. If you earn / your partner earns over 150,000 you won’t get child tax credits, free childcare hours
6. If you are self employed and you hire a nanny you and your partner will both personally be taxed as it is seen as a benefit in kind. If you have a limited company worth considering hiring them as a PA and putting through the business
